KINGS CROSS, London Urban Design Trip

BOBMK is running a trip to look at high quality urban design, landscape and sustainability at the award winning Kings Cross development in North London. The design trip in November will look at the site with guides for some of the developments giving key details and real insights into the successful buildings and works spaces that have been created. This area has been regenerated and is nominated in this years Stirling Prize for the Kings Cross Masterplan.

This is a very exciting regeneration project and why we would like our members to visit.

Redevelopment of the site for the Channel Tunnel at Kings Cross St Pancras began in 2008, the station completed in 2009 and the station’s distinctive departure concourse opened in March 2012, and the King’s Cross square in front of the station opened in 2013.

The regeneration has involved many new businesses moving into the area –The most notable amongst them have been Facebook, Universal Music, AutoTrader and Google. The site has also delivered a large range of restaurants, public realm spaces and retail too. Over 25,000 people now work in this area and more than 12,000 residents live here.
