Scheme summary

Francis Jackson Homes purchased the site with detailed planning consent for five dwellings in 2013, construction commenced on the site in early 2015.

New planning application was submitted for four sensitively designed detached homes to be built in natural stone and bespoke cedar cladding under slate roofs.

The four detached dwellings overlooking the Grade I listed Stowe House and gardens were designed with large single pane windows in grey powder coated aluminium frames to allow the occupants to enjoy the views whilst allowing large amounts of natural light into the homes.

The original fifth plot was replaced by a pair of vernacular cottages to match cottages opposite and adjacent.

Successful design elements

  • Combination of contemporary and vernacular design to sympathetically respect the local context and enhance the site

  • Energy efficient design including air source heat pumps and underfloor heating
  • Natural stone, slate and cedar exterior for longevity and low maintenance
  • Velfac widows and Lindaub rainwater good for high performance and low maintenance
  • Metal estate fencing, natural paving and high quality finishes throughout
